Caring for Your Vivid Hair

  • Do not wash hair for 48 hours after service, if you can help it.

  • When washing, use the coolest water you can handle. We highly suggest using sulfate and paraben free shampoo and conditioner. All of the shampoo and conditioner we carry is sulfate free. We highly recommend Joico K-Pak Color Therapy or Joico Defy Damage. Your hair was an investment, so invest in the right products to maintain that gorgeous look at home. You are worth it!

  • Hot water, hot tools and UV exposure will fade your color quickly. After your shower, use some kind of heat and UV protectant. It’s like sunscreen for your hair, baby! We recommend using Loma Nourishing Oil, Joico Defy Damage Shield, or Moroccan Oil Heat Protect Spray. Heat tools should not be above 375°. Not only can this cause breakage to your newly lightened hair, but it can also cause crazy color fading.  \

  • Limit your shampoo to twice or three times a week. Vivids last 25 to 48 washes, depending on the color, porosity of your hair, and how well it is cared for. If you break this down, washing your hair every day means your beautiful color will fade in only two months!

  • In between shampoos, you can use a dry shampoo to keep your hair looking fresh. Dry shampoos can also contain sulfates, so check those labels.  IGK First Class or Loma Dry Shampoo are always on our shelves. Don’t neglect those ends either, babe! Make sure you use a lightweight nourishing oil to keep those ends from getting too dry and brittle.

  • Invest in a weekly hydrating hair mask to keep your hair shiny and healthy. Ask your stylist about custom color depositing masks to keep your color looking fresh also! We carry a variety of color depositing shampoos and conditioners, but if we don’t have your color, one of our stylists is always happy to mix something for you.
